KARYN AND BORIS VON ENGELBRECHTEN

THE HOTEL OWNERS

“I had got to the point where most of my life I spent on the M4. I thought there has to be more than this.”

After quitting her job as an IT manager, Karyn began travelling the world in search of something bigger.

It was then that she met Boris, the man who would become her husband and help her devise a plan to relocate to the beautiful island of Fofoa, Tonga.

Together, and with the help of some Tongan locals, they built their stunning beachside home from materials sourced from the island, which itself measures just 1km.

They now live with their three sons who they homeschool, learning everything they would in England, but with unique access to marine biology and the plants and animals found on the island they call home.
