“If people disbelieve what they are seeing, it means I have achieved my aim of creating art that has a sense of wonder and magic.”

Taking inspiration from the stunning natural environment of his native Dorset coastline, Adrian Gray creates gravity-defying installations simply by balancing stones on top of one another.

After scouring his local beach for rocks, pebbles and stones, he studies each one carefully to fully understand how the stones will fit together, and ‘feels’ the balancing point of each stone – a process that requires immense skill and patience.

Each stunning artwork takes hours to perfect, but it is only this meditative, calming and therapeutic method that creates these seemingly impossible structures.
